Hi, I am fzorb, Rareș, or whatever other name you know me as. This is my "personal webpage" where I have been rubbing mint for 4 years and counting!
You might know me from 16px.eu or ikarusbot (rom).
This is just a basic webpage. No flashy text, no stupid autoplaying music, no kilometric javascript bundles, no fancy icons. See the source code here.

Bridging RSS to Discord for free (using Google Cloud)

Who said RSS is dead?
Recently one of my friends wanted to have a Discord channel where she could receive news feeds from all across the country. Because every Discord bot that does it sucks, I decided to do the bridge myself!
Moving away from .xyz

Four years ago I purchased my first domain, fzorb.xyz from Namecheap for about two dollars. At the time I didn't consider things such as email deliverability when deciding on a TLD. As such, I just chose whatever was cheapest.
That was on June 28th 2022. It kind of became a vital part of my identity, now not so much. A lot has changed in these four years and I think it is time for a change of scenery.
Making a reasonably incompetent Gemini server

I got bored one afternoon and I thought to myself: "how hard would it be to make a Gemini server?". To make it a bit harder, I decided to use Ruby instead of my go-to language for these projects, Python. Now this is not intended to replace any well-estabilished Gemini server software you might use, in fact, I am probably going to abandon this project. It was a fun learning exercise, and unless you fancy using some really crappy code to serve your Gemini site, you should not use this.
